Stem Racing

STEM racing (formerly F1 in Schools) is a global STEM competition in which National Champions from over 63 countries advance to the World Finals. There, the top young engineers will compete for the World Champion title and the honor of lifting the prestigious STEM Racing World Champions Trophy.

The challenge opens an exciting pathway for high school students to explore their interests in Engineering, Science, Marketing and Project Management careers. The students, a team of 3 to 6 members, work to design, make, and race the fastest F1 car of the future. Teams combine design and manufacturing skills with CAD/CAM technologies and creative marketing talent to promote and grow their team.

FAQs

STEM Racing (formerly known as F1 in Schools) is an international competition where students design, build, and race miniature Formula 1 cars. Teams of students aged 9 to 19 years deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate and manufacture the fastest F1® car of the future, driven by compact, compressed air power units.

In the UAE, the competition is organized by the official STEM Racing / F1 in Schools partners, who work with schools and educational authorities to run regional and national events.

Students form teams and operate just like real Formula 1 teams. They design their miniature race car using professional 3D software, manufacture it, and continuously test and improve it for maximum speed and performance. Teams also build their own brand identity, develop marketing strategies, secure sponsorships, and prepare presentations. Teams are judged on speed, design, teamwork, innovation, and presentation.

The competition takes place in three stages. It begins with the Regional Finals, where teams compete against others in their area. The top-performing teams then advance to the National Finals, where they compete to become the UAE champions. The winning team earns the honor of representing the UAE at the World Finals, competing against the best student teams from around the world.
